Bob Duff: It's Mrazek's Net To Lose As long as he keeps rolling, Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill plans to roll with Petr Mrazek in the team's net.

Let's hope Mrazek performs well enough that they can trade him at the deadline. Wings are 3-4 years away from being truly competitive and Mrazek isn't the guy that'll get you over the hump.

Now let's be honest, only way Mrazek (or Howard) gets dealt is if a contender has their goalie go down for the season.

I would rather keep Mrazek. We would get more of a return at this point for Jimmy.
Plus Mrazek still has the potential to be a great goalie in this league. Just whether or not he finds the consistency and mentality to do it.

Feb.26 can't come soon enough.

I'm amenable to trading either (or both) goalies depending on the return, but given the choice I'd rather move Howard.

Mrazek was a great OHL goaltender, a great AHL goaltender, and for about two years a very-nearly-great NHL goaltender. He's only 25 and still an RFA. It's possible he'll continue to be streaky and sputter around as an average-to-below-average starter, but there's enough upside left that I don't love the idea of writing him off and flipping him for peanuts.

Ya will be exciting to see who gets shipped out. Jimmy should be given away to anyone who wants him for a 7th rounder. At 5.29M next season I doubt any takers on that. If they could copy tamba, and use the goalie competition to leverage a cheap extension with Mrazek (remember Vass signed a 3yr 9M deal, then traded bishop) and ditch Jimmy, they would free up over 6M next season. Combine that with Green's 6M going, and the cap projected to increase 3-7M, and the 5 lowest paid forwards (probably their best 5, all UFA's or RFA's following this season) on Detroit can all be resigned. There could be hope for Det yet.

I hope we lose 8-7 with Green and Mantha getting hat tricks.

If ward is in net I would be more than happy with this.
